How long have you been doing this thing?
My first engagement session was in November 2012 - since then I've been hooked on photographing couples.
What would you say is your style?
I would say that my style lies somewhere between lifestyle and documentary. This means that I take photos of the day as the wedding unfolds, but I also refine those moments by positioning my subject towards natural light sources, fixing out-of-place hair, and giving direction into new poses. I focus on taking fun and romantic photos of the bride and groom with their friends and family while still keeping the natural feeling in tact.
I'm so awkward in front of the camera, is that okay?
Friend, everyone is awkward in front of the camera. I'll put you in poses and make you say and do some silly things, but that's what helps you loosen up. I'll teach you your best angles and poses and make sure you have a genuine smile.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day?
The moment the bride and groom get to see and talk to each other. That means the first look or the moments immediately after the ceremony. That joy and excitement cannot be manufactured. And the cake.
Who will be photographing my wedding?
ME! I'll be there with an assistant. I have a few go-to awesome professional photographers that shoot with me.
Would you shoot my destination wedding?
YES! Absolutely! I love traveling. Shoot me an email, and I'll send you more info about that! Want to know where I've been and where I'm going? Check out my travel page here.
Do you do videography?
As of right now, Alyssa Barletter Photography does not provide video services, but I can definitely recommend some amazing videographers.
What about a photo booth?
I do not do photo booths, but I always recommend The PhotoBus.
When will I receive my photos?
My turn around time is 6 weeks. After carefully editing your images, I upload them to an online gallery so you can download and share all of your edited photos with friends and family. I also custom designed heirloom albums and other print products.
When was your wedding? How did you choose your photographer?
I married my best friend on July 10, 2015. We exchanged vows on the rooftop of The Terrace on Grand in downtown Kansas City, Missouri in the pouring rain. I choose my photographer because I admire her work, but also because I knew I would be spending the majority of my wedding day with her. I trusted her 100% with everything. Plus, she's super awesome and cool and fun and I love her.
Wait, you got married in the rain?
You better believe it.
