How to Create a Snapchat Geofilter For Your Wedding

Truth be told, I'm kind of obsessed with Snapchat filters. Specifically the one with the hip sunnies and awesome music. It makes me feel really cool. I also really love the geotags that let my friends know where I am. Snapchat's idea to allow users to make geotags was brilliant. Wedding Snapchat filters are AWESOME! It's a little thing that makes guests feel special and important. Plus it's not that expensive. I always wondered how the heck people made them, so I finally looked into it and it's super easy.
Be forewarned: this is super wordy, but hopefully super helpful.

STEP 1: GET THERE
Head over to snapchat.com/on-demand and click CREATE NOW. It will prompt you to log in with your Snapchat username and password.

STEP 2: CREATE!
Now is the fun part! You can download a template for Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator and design in those programs. If you don't already have those Adobe programs, you can still create your own design using Canva. Canva is a free online program where you are able to design anything you like. The final product must be a .PNG file 1080px wide by 1920px tall with a transparent background. Click here to see all of Snapchat's guidelines.
If designing a Snapchat filter isn't your jam, you can always buy a custom one! Etsy has a TON of different filters that the Etsy shop owner can customize for you. Here's some super cute ones from Meadow Co.LoveStoryPaperWit & Kit, and Jaxes Design.

STEP 3: UPLOAD
Now that you have your perfect design, it's time to upload your filter to Snapchat. After you upload, Snapchat will allow you to preview what your filter looks like.

STEP 4: THE WHEN AND WHERE
The next step is choosing what days/times you want to have your filter live. You also get to create a 'fence' around the area where you want it to be available. Based on start and stop times and how big your area is, Snapchat will then tell you how much your filter will cost. Just enter your credit card info, and you're set!

STEP 5: GET APPROVED
Within a few business days, Snapchat will let you know if your filter is within their guidelines. And will confirm your when and where.

STEP 6: SNAP!
Now your friends and family (and me!) are able to snap away on your big day!!
