Friends! Today is the day! Alyssa Barletter Photography is officially live and up and running!
I feel like I have been dreaming and planning for this day forever and it is finally here.
When I decided to begin a wedding photography business, I had to come up with a name. So I said to myself, "Girl, use your name." But here was the problem: I'm in a super serious relationship and there's a good chance my name is going to change in the next few years (and who wants to go through the hairy process of changing a business name?). So then I said, "You've got a middle name, now's the time to use it." So I created a simple ribbon logo and BAM! Alyssa Marie Photography was born.
For the past 4 years that's been me (I know, really cool). Alyssa Marie. The one with the ribbon around her name. As my business grew, I grew also. I found that the photos I was most passionate about were elegant, joyful, and romantic. My logo and brand I had created seemed to not quite fit with the photos I was now taking. I realized that it's okay to change your business name. Just like it's okay to grow and change goals and grow some more. I figured it was time for a change, so I decided to make some of those changes. I had a bunch of ideas of what I liked and didn't like, but I knew I needed help.
Immediately I knew who I wanted to collaborate with to create my new brand. Lauren Heim is located in Manhattan, Kansas and is such a joy to work with. I had only heard good things about her, and actually purchased some of her work for my wedding. I had to work with her. After exchanging a few emails with Lauren, she knew exactly what I wanted and created a gorgeous logo suite for me. She gave me so many options from the start, and always listened to what I liked and didn't like. Seriously, her work is awesome and she's incredible. This is the final babe:
After I received the final files, I went right to work. I shut down my website and re-designed everything. I'll be honest, this hottie of a website was a hot mess for a few days. Lots of typos, bad alignment, and weird run-on sentences are my specialty, so shout out to all of my friends and family who proof-read and proof-looked for me before we went live. Just like when you get married, when you change your name, you have to change (what feels like) everything. Legals forms, pricing sheets, emails, urls, social media names, credit cards, business cards, stationary, advertisements, and probably a lot more things I haven't thought of. So for the sake of continuity, my new website is www.alyssabarletter.com. My new Instagram and Twitter handle is @alyssabarletter. Hopefully when you search on Facebook, The Knot and on KC Weddings I'll come up as Alyssa Barletter Photography, but sometimes the internet takes a while to catch up, so thank you for being flexible :)
Now, is the scary part. I show all of you my dream for my business. A new look is just the beginning. There are so many new goals and new dreams for Alyssa Barletter Photography. But that's another post for another day.
I hope you love the new look as much as I do.
